The workbook addresses several concepts and starts with the prevention of relapse. The major part of the workbook is how to develop support systems for maintaining recovery that contribute to successful recovery. The text shows many elements that contribute to addiction. It goes into detail about the genetic aspects of addiction. There is also a segment of how executive functioning of the brain can get impaired with addiction that compromises judgment, impulse control, and the ability to organize. But these impairments can be temporary with practicing having good judgment and impulse control, since new neuropathways can develop with exercising these functions. The stages of recovery and change are reviewed as well as the twelve steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. One chapter is dedicated to powerlessness and unmanageability. At the end of each chapter, there are references for the reader to consult that have been used for the content of the workbook chapters. This book was written primarily for those young people, both boys and girls and their parents and/or mentors who, for whatever reason, believe they have no chance at a successful life. This book is the story about a young boy who believed he was in that category while growing up. That little boy changed those odds and ultimately did many things that most people cannot even dream of. Dick was expected to work twelve- to fourteen-hour days every day until he left home to join the air force when he was seventeen years old. By the grace of God, Dick somehow graduated from high school since he never once, in twelve years, ever had any time to do homework. Dick’s very best childhood friend was his Dog King who is on the cover of this Book. Without King, Dick’s childhood would have been very, very difficult, for they were always together. Life was about to change dramatically when Dick joined the air force when he was seventeen years old. The title of the book, “Destiny,” is very appropriate since it was at that time when destiny played a major role in Dick’s life. Dick should have never passed his induction physical due to an unknown severe bundle branch blockage in his heart, but he did; he should have never been accepted in the Air Force’s air weather school, but he was, graduating forty-third out of a class total of 187. He remained in the air force for a total of four years. In his book, Dick discusses many more pivotal events where destiny played a major role. non-fiction/historical

The Dirty Boots: The Stories of a Reluctant Warrior
It is 1966, when a nineteen-year-old boy from Three Rivers, Michigan, follows family tradition by enlisting in the United States Navy. A plan which he thinks will guarantee an uneventful tour of duty aboard a US naval ship goes awry when he is deposited in the middle of a war zone in South Vietnam. For the next grueling year, he performs the duties of a fleet marine force medic, caring for wounded and dying American marines. Dubbed Doc John by his comrades, he soon becomes entrenched in a strange, dangerous world, where he becomes both witness and reluctant warrior. Whether he is patching up wounded comrades or placing Band-Aids on scrapes of native children, young Doc John somehow manages to do an impossible job, even as the world is falling down around him. He not only learns the sad lessons of war, but survives them and finds himself in the process. These are the experiences of a different kind of soldier, who manages to traverse a minefield of emotional upheaval and can still tell his stories with honesty and self-deprecating humor, exemplifying the resiliency of the human spirit. What Could Be Better Than Living In a Fairy Tale World?

“Imagine the sweetest and most delectable fairy tale book illustrated with pages

and pages of magnificent cakes, complete with characters composed and comprised

of delicate details like fairy wings, all manner of flowers, dragons and mermaids and so much more.

Not illustrations of cakes, but pictures of nearly eighty “sugar sculptures,”

as author and illustrator Crystal Walters described her creations. It sounds incredible,

but it’s one of the most unique concepts for a fairy tale book that you will ever encounter.

In his groundbreaking and conservative new book, ‘In God We Trust,’ George P. Schwartz, CFA outlines the blueprint for the pro-life and pro-family Ave Maria Mutual Funds. These mutual funds have attracted over 100,000 shareholders from all 50 states, who have invested more than $2.2 billion in five separate award-winning funds.

And they are changing America.

“The country and society itself are stronger when people have higher levels of morality and ethics. Abortion and pornography fly right in the face of that,” says Schwartz. “It makes sense that businesses with moral ethics and a commitment to family values are stronger and more reliable to work with as well.”

Schwartz comes with impressive credentials. Having published two previous books on investing, he is also the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Schwartz Investment Counsel, Inc., established in 1980. In 2001, he teamed up with Tom Monaghan of Domino’s Pizza fame, and former Major League Baseball Commissioner Bowie Kuhn to discuss how pro-life investors could invest in a manner that was consistent with their faith. Ave Maria Mutual Funds is the result of that teamwork and has been thriving ever since as the largest family of mutual funds of their kind.
