What book or books should be made into movies?
FANTASTIC QUESTION! Remember, a genius film maker can make a great film on great books. The two are very -very different. A great book can't guarantee a hit and class movie unless handled intelligently, it's just a translation. Words are translated into camera, to have a better answer ask Shyam Benegal, I think only living genius which has all quality. Though I would also like to suggest name like-Aamir Khan, Madhur Bhandarker, Prakash Jha, Anuraag Kashyap.
Hindi movies as of now we're going for should be stopped right now and at once without a doubt should go ahead with MAHABHARATA-an immense potential to make 3-hours film with elegance. Good things never go wastage. Weak, ill film maker and corporate culture how can dare..., only genius can do such thing, and poor they have no money..!
Favorite movies made from books:
TISARY KASAM- of Mare Gaye Gulfam of Mr. Renu, next I think films of Guru Datta, his Sahab Bibi... presently I don't remember which has comprehensive remark, well remembered... Sagina of Tapan Sinha, stared by Dilip Kumar, but I've not read the book as it was in Bengali Lang. , I can't think such grabbing and outstanding film of Tapan Sinha where Dilip Sahib is in his SUPERB form..., just incomparable and outstanding, I cannot say the great film maker how genius had used it into picturesque. Only those reader can judge who have read the book and saw the film. Tisary Kasam is better than word, I guess Sagina would be far...far...far better than words due to excellence of Dilip Kumar and Tapan Sinha, also music of S.D. Berman Da, where he has composed Bengali folk tunes marvelously. Devdas stays there equally.
Sorry, presently hit and awarded film -Slum dog and its book I couldn't have gone through either.
