Revealing that life has a way of offering opportunities and nature has a way of expressing them a family trip to Africa in 2001 was to be the catalyst for a children's adventure book. It began with a spotting of a pink hippo (yes, a real live pink hippo) who was immediately named Rosie by my son Ray. But why did she appear to be separated from the other hippos? Our guide explained, that “tolerance" and not necessarily “acceptance” may have been what was going on for this hippo because she was different?
